The exact steps to set up a BlackBerry to access email vary slightly depending on the device, but on most modern devices it’s fairly straight forward to set up a BlackBerry to access email.

  1. On the BlackBerry, open the Setup folder
  2. Open Email settings
  3. Log in. Note that depending on your carrier you may need to create an account at this stage. This has nothing to do with your email address, and instead is just used to manage your email settings from your BlackBerry. If you have trouble at this stage you may need to contact your carrier for assistance
  4. Select the Add button.
  5. Choose Other
  6. Enter your email address and password and select the Next> button
  7. Select OK

At this stage you’ll receive an email on your device with a subject of Email account information, this email tells you that you will start receiving mail in approximately 20 minutes.

5-20 minutes later you should receive a second email with the subject Email account information (push mail), this email confirms that your account is set up and mail will be pushed to your BlackBerry.

Did you know that it’s now possible to push mail from multiple folders to your BlackBerry? Login to your webmail account, click on Options then Folders and enable the checkbox in the Push to BlackBerry column beside each folder that you want pushed to your BlackBerry.
